Nameo: Save a Tree!

Paper Business cards, we all have them, hundreds of them! Stacked away in shoe boxes, hidden in drawers and floating around on our desks. By the time you get to manually typing in the cards or scanning them with your CardScanner you have long forgotten when and where you got the card and who gave it to you…
The Solution: Nameo!
Nameo is a simple iPhone App that takes business cards to the next level.
Simply download the Nameo Application from the iPhone App store, enter the personal information you want and then launch Nameo the next time you meet someone carrying an iPhone. If you both have Nameo installed all you will have to do is stand together, launch Nameo and click “Connect”. After that you will be able to add each others virtual business cards to your iPhone.
Getting Started
When you first launch Nameo (Download it here!) you will be presented with a screen where you will be able to enter the personal information you wish to share.
As you can see we currently have fields for first name, last name, phone number and email. Future versions will offer support for more fields including company, title, address, notes and even an option to exchange your photo.
Get Connected
When you meet another iPhone Nameo user you simply open Nameo and click the big green “Connect” button.
The iPhone uses your internet connection, the current time and place and some other secret ingredients to figure out who you want to connect to.
If the other person wasn’t ready yet you can always ‘Cancel’ and try again a few seconds later. Nameo doesn’t use Bluetooth, but needs a live internet connection.
Exchanging vCards
After that Nameo will present you with the name of the person you can connect with.
If that is indeed the person you were trying to connect with, simply click their name - this then lets you both add each other’s contact data to your iPhone Address Books.
A simple solution
As you can see the Nameo Application is very simple to use and offers a lot more than just exchanging businesscards. Along with the information people enter we also save the time and location (Google Maps!) of every exchange.
Currently the application is only available for the iPhone and iPod Touch, but we are working on other platforms too. If you think we should add a certain gadget first, do let us know.
